Features and Specifications

Remote Confirmation (?)2-Way remotes let you stay in touch with your vehicle, confirming your commands (such as remote start, or arming your security system) either with an LCD screen on the remote, or using LED lights. Some 2-Way remotes also act as a security pager, letting you know your siren has been triggered, even if you are too far away to hear it. None
Remotes (?)The number and type of remotes that come with the system. 1 5-button 1-Way
Range (?)Viper systems use Radio Frequency (RF) technologies to communicate with your vehicle, and these technologies each have a typical operating range. Range varies by the technology used, but also because of environmental factors such as interference from other RF sources. Currently Viper systems with the longest range use Spread Spectrum Technology (SST) with range up to 1 mile. 2,000 feet
Security (?)Approximately 1.2 million vehicles are stolen in the U.S. every year and $1 billion worth of contents are stolen out of vehicles - so millions of vehicle owners have reached out to Viper security systems as a powerful deterrent against thieves and vandals.
Remote Start (?)Remote Start allows you to start your engine by remote control, allowing your vehicle's climate control system to warm up or cool down the cabin before you get in. Range is important with remote start (your vehicle might be parked down the street, or at the far end of a parking lot) and 2-Way remote start systems are preferred (because they confirm that your vehicle has started.)
Keyless Entry (?)Unlock your vehicle's doors with the push of a button on your keychain remote.
Trunk Pop (?)Viper systems with Trunk Pop can open your power trunk with the push of a button.
SmartStart Compatible (?)A Viper SmartStart module can be added to this system to make your vehicle SmartStart ready.
Encryption (?)Clone-safe, anti-Code Grabbing technology comes standard on every Viper system. SuperCode™
Domelight Supervision (?)A great safety feature: illuminates your vehicle's dome light for 30 seconds when you disarm your security system or unlock the doors of your remote start system.
Stinger DoubleGuard Shock Sensor (?)Each Viper security system comes standard with the dual stage Stinger DoubleGuard shock sensor, which detects blows or impacts to the vehicle and can discriminate light impacts from heavy ones.
Neo Revenger 6-Tone Siren (?)Light impacts result in WarnAway chirps from the Neo Revenger Siren, while heavier blows result in the full 120 dB 6-Tone sequence, designed to frighten away the would-be thief and call attention to the intrusion attempt.
Failsafe Starter Kill (?)Keep your car where you parked it with the Failsafe Starter Kill, an immobilizer designed to prevent hot-wiring. Option
Anti-Carjacking (VRS) (?)VRS is a user-operated anti-carjacking system. Once activated, if your vehicle is carjacked, 30 seconds later the siren will start screaming for help and the lights will flash. When the carjacker pulls over and turns off the ignition, the starter kill will activate, which should prompt the carjacker to then abandon your vehicle for eventual recovery.
Guaranteed Protection Plan (GPP) (?)GPP refunds your comprehensive insurance deductible up to $2,500 if your car is stolen within the first year after Viper is installed; $5,000 if it also has Viper Window Film! Option
# of Auxiliary Channels (?)Auxiliary channels are electrical outputs controlled by your keychain remote, which your installer can interface with systems in your car to allow you to operate them by remote control. Additional parts or labor will be required. 3

Technologies

SuperCode

SuperCode

SuperCode is the technology that defines the functionality of Responder and the intelligence that drives its advanced features. Its protocol encompasses software-based system signal encryption (replacing hardware-based Clone Safe Code-Hopping). Multi-car operation is designed into the SuperCode protocol, so users will have all of the possible operations for two cars controllable by one remote.

SmartStart Compatible

SmartStart Compatible

Start, control, or locate your car from virtually anywhere with your smartphone.

You can add a Viper SmartStart module to any compatible Viper remote start or security with remote start system to make your system SmartStart ready. By adding a VSM250 module, your system will also be ready for SmartStart GPS.

Does everything I want it to. Installed on a 2000 Toyota Avalon. Really enjoy warming up the car b4 getting in. Michigan winters can be cold and it is nice to have a defrosted and warmed up car to get in.

Totally satisfied with this well thought out product. It's unusual to get a product that actually works better than you imagined it would but this one does.

Best thing I ever put in a car, I live in Wisconsin where winter cold is colder than cold, it is great to walk outside and get into a warm car, windshield is clear of snow and ice, I bought and had it installed by Best Buy, it works great and the installer was very helpful and still is when I call with a quick question.

I have loved my husband to death for installing the Viper remote starter in my Tahoe 4 years ago for Christmas and I love him even more for the new system he just had installed because I lost the remotes to the original starter. Nevertheless, I would recommend having a remote starter placed in your vehicle no matter how old or new it is. It may seem like a waste of money at the time but Trust Me you will be thanking yourself or your spouse later when it is freezing cold or it is hot as hell outside. Once Again Trust Me Get The Starter

I've had this model for 2.5 years and it was good. But the other day mine broke, and I have been trying to get my other one to work. It won't connect to the system, and now I am trying to get new one.

What a wonderful item! My husband bought this for me and had it installed. I work overnight and how great to get into my car all warm and cozy before heading on my 45 minute drive home.Normally I'd be shivering and shaking for a good 15 minutes until it warmed up. I also have a older vehicle that never did have a remote for the doors and trunk but do now. I'm just so pleased with the whole thing. It works from quite a distance too. If your thinking about a gift for a loved one and your winters are harsh and cold, take this item into consideration. It would also be wonderful for a family of children to chip in for a great gift for mom. Very thoughtful.

Excellent remote start kit with a plethora of features that I absolutely LOVE, like automatically engaging the rear defroster when the car is below 55F, a car finder that totally beats the factory car finder (It emits one long honk then flashes the lights, as opposed to the factory constant annoying honk!) Even the window stickers included in the box are a plus, because although this system does not include security, the blinking blue light on the command module and the Viper window stickers are excellent deterrents, since Viper is a well respected name in Automotive Security. Installation was as easy as it could be on a system like this, installation of a remote starter should always be left to the professional, I recommend best buy because the installation is free (rather, it's included in the price, but regardless the MSRP is still $249.99 at the time of this review- installed) The range is incredible, while others claim a 2000' max that's only true over a flat, unobstructed area- now while the same is true for this kit it still has a PRACTICAL range much longer than many other kits I have had, including those from Scytek, and MARS. I am able to start my car from my bedroom on one side of the house, when the car is parked outside on the opposite side of the house, in addition I can start it from my workplace, which is a good 1000' from my car, surrounded by brick and steel, so I am impressed. Bottom line: It does exactly what it's supposed to do, and they even thought of how to make it do a little bit more. I bought the unit from Best Buy which included a lifetime warranty on the "Brain", and on the installation, the only thing not covered under the LIFETIME warranty is the remotes, which are covered for a year, not unreasonable. Remotes can be lost or broken or just wear out, but guess what, they can also be replaced- I enjoy the peace of mind that if it ever fails to operate it won't cost me a DIME! I have had 5 vehicles with remote start, 3 General Motors, 2 Ford, this one, installed on a GM Car with Passlock II, is by far the best I have EVER had!

Just had this remote starter installed on my SUV today. I like the features so far. Weather isn't cold enough to actually use it yet. But I would recommend it.
